It Still Hasn't Reached A Single Light-Year
Voyager 1 is now nearly 16 billion miles (26 billion km) from Earth. And after nearly 50 years of nonstop travel at 60,000 km/h (37,282 mph), it still hasn't reached a single light-year.
Why? Because one light-year is 365 times farther than a light-day.
A mind-blowing reminder of how unimaginably vast our universe is. Even our fastest spacecraft have barely left the cosmic front porch.
Yet, Voyager 1 keeps going — silently exploring the unknown, still sending signals from the edge of interstellar space.
